I ALWAYS say "bless you" when I hear someone sneeze. I could be in the supermarket or walking down the street, it doesn't matter. People are always surprised to hear a stranger bless them soon after they have sneezed. I have always enjoyed their reaction. I think it is just plain polite to do so.
So, we started a new little thing a few months ago.
Someone sneezes...WE ALL SAY BLESS YOU!
It's very cute when Baby S sneezes and seven people are blessing her from across the room.
Just another little lesson in the Manners Department.

It's always a good idea to observe the lost art of simple etiquette! One of my customers actually blessed me three times in a row earlier today. Yes I'm a serial sneezer. I rarely sneeze but when I do it's never just one.
In other news, a few days ago I was caught in a pedestrian traffic jam on Broadway here in in NYC. The laws of chance randomly forced me & an elderly woman into each others' path. As I drew in my breath to speak she shot me a streetwise, world weary look as if to say "Don't mess with me, Buster." Then I simply said "Pardon me, Ma'am" in my friendliest tone as I stepped aside. She smiled and said "Thank You, Sir. Have a pleasant evening." I replied in kind & then on we went.
Life is so much nicer when people treat each other respectfully, isn't it? I'm glad to know that you are teaching your children to behave properly. No doubt, there will be times when some desensitized Assball makes it hard for them, but overall their lives will be better for the lessons you are giving them now.
Respect! -- J
